Trip 2 Days 1 Night in National Park Gunung Ledang

If you plan to hike Gunung Ledang, first of all, you need to check with Taman Hutan Lagenda the availability to climb on the date you request. Why?? Because Taman Hutan Lagenda management has limit the climbers to be 150 ppl per day. This is to avoid too many people on the peak at one time and to avoid congestion on the pathway. The booking can make one week early. Luckily, still got availability on that date. For the hiking activity, it is compulsory to hire guide from Taman Hutan Lagenda. Even if you already had a guide, you still have to take guide assigned to you by Taman Hutan Lagenda. Details about Gunung Ledang, the reservation, pricing & almost everything can be found at this very useful website.

Now we would share  with you guys how to get there. If you are from Kuala Lumpur or Johor Bahru , take the North-South Highway and exit at Tangkak. Head for Tangkak town, then follow the signboards for Sagil and Segamat. The turn-off to the park is about 2 km after Sagil town. You could see very large Signboard heading to Taman Hutan Lagenda. Drive for another 3km along the Tar road that goes through an oil palm plantation, following the small signboards of 'Taman Hutan Lagenda'.

Gunung Ledang Trails

Before we started, we did few stretching led by our guide. And then, short briefing from our guide and lastly, recitation of doa… pray for our safety.

We started trekking around 2.00 p.m. At the very beginning of the trekking, we headed for the concrete steps leading to CP1 (aka Bukit Semput) which we took 20 minutes. We stopped around 5 minutes like that and then continue approaching CP2 (Bukit Orkid). It took another 20 minutes to reach CP2.

Before reach CP1, our first timer friend, Amelia started vomiting.
Fuhh, it's quite critical that it's time ... she's ready to plan to go downstairs again. Maybe because of her strong spirit she kept going on. But its happen again went we nearly reach at CP3, she vomited and this time she looked pale & so exhausted. So, we took around 15 minutes break to relief her pain. After taking Oral re-hydration salt & medicated oil, looks like she regained her new energy and ready to continue without any more thinking of turning back to the base.

After 3 hours hiking to checkpoint 4, suddenly one of my friends named syukri has experienced muscle cramps. So we need to stop awhile to put medicine on his feet. After 15 minutes of recovery, we continued our trip to the campsite. Rain falling down on the earth but we keep on the journey with enthusiasm. At 6.30 pm we arrived at the campsite checkpoint 4 named elephant pool. Alhamdulillah. We are prepared the tank and start wash our body at near river. The water were so refreshing and cold with company by small fish around.

Without wasting our time setting up tents before dusk unfolding the curtains. The atmosphere in the jungle is still lonely and the sound of the grip is heard, it indicates that it is in waktu magrib. After setting up our tent we were getting ready to clean up the elephant's pool and started preparing for dinner. On night we only prepare our dinner by eating instant noodles. (low cost and easy to cook 😆) Time to sleep and will wake up again on 3.00 a.m for start climb to the top of Gunung Ledang.

In the silence of the night we talked with a guide named Mr. Zali . He told a lot of his experiences as a guide in this legendary forest park. We are very excited and get a little bit of knowledge about hiking.

After a long time we felt sleepy and needed enough rest to continue our journey to the top of the hill.

At 3 am and we are getting ready for the mental and physical peak. We are very excited to experience this new experience. In the silence of the  morning we only armed a flashlight to walk the jungle carefully. After 4 hours we climbed with sweat wetting the clothes and feet almost cramp we finally made it to the top of the hill. Oh yeahhh !! We think this world is ours and we can see the sunrise.
